Alcohol inks journal - "Just dance like no one's watching"

Hi and welcome :0). Today I would like to share my new DIY disc bound alcohol inks 8"x 8" (ca. 20x20 cm) journal.

These DIY journals are highly popular these days and I saw some awesome ones on Youtube. It is a perfect option for my alcohol inks background on Yupo paper. I wanted to try the alcohol inks on this surface for such a long time and I finally found enough courage to do it and I'm very happy I did it :0)

I splashed an Alcohol inks blending solution from Ranger on the clean Yupo, than dropped in some colours of alcohol inks (blending solution makes them movable easily and longer), blow them around with a straw and let them dry after I was satisfied with the mix they've created. Because alcohol inks can be a bit sticky on the places with higher concentration of colours, I used this feature and rubbed metallic foil over these spots, so the foil become a part of the background. The dryer the inks are, the less of the foil will stick on the page.

I was so thrilled, that I've created 7 backgrounds at once, with different colours and foils :D I hope I will use them all for my new art journal.

First page is full of ballerinas from Hunkydory and Visible image dancing in the moonlight and I only regret that it is almost impossible to show, the silver foil on the page, it is really wonderful effect :0)

So that's it for today, thank you a lot for your visit and see you next time :0)

Creative week 17 - "It doesn't have to be Halloween"

Hi and thank you for your visit again :0). As I promised last time, here is a new art journal page from my Seawhite hardbound 7.5"x7.5" (ca. 20x20 cm) journal.

I think that Halloween is not the only day or night when witches make their magic. I had this idea in my head for some time , so I'm very happy with the final page :0). Especially because of the alcohol markers colouring I did this time - it is really not my cup of tea .0). I used ShinHan Touch Twin alcohol markers and Spectrum Noir alcohol markers together with white and black gel pens.

I stamped all my images from an awesome "Witch way is the candy" stamp set from My Favorite Things (just the nice broom is from Chocolate baroque) with Memento Tuxedo black ink pad and enhanced the black lines after colouring with Memento Tuxedo black marker.
Background is a combination of Distress sprays - Seedless preserves, Faded jeans and Chipped sapphire - and water. For white droplets I used white gesso mixed with water. The more is the gesso diluted, the more the droplets obtain the colour of the background from Distress sprays before they dry, so the white of the gesso is not so shiny at the end. It is also possible to use the same colours of Distress inks over the dried page and muted the white dots with them as I did.

This page is also my entry to the Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge.

Thank you for your visit and see you next time :0)

Creative week 16 - "Awesome AUTUMN beauty"

Hi and thank you for your visit :0). I'm back again with an art journal page from my Seawhite hardbound 7.5"x7.5" (ca. 20x20 cm) journal.

This time I was strongly inspired by the last beautiful. sunny, warm and colourful autumn days we had here in a past few weeks. It was just awesome go out, watch the leaves in their transformation and be surprised by the nature life everywhere around - birds, fish, insects (e.g. ladybug flying around me which found its place on the page) - although we could say that winter is almost here, just around the corner :0)

Background was created with a combination of blue Distress inks and Distress oxides which I like a lot  (Distress wet on dry layers basic background technique). In reality are the colours much darker, and deeper, with an awesome contrast and final effect. Die-cuted leaves, ladybug and pumpkin were also coloured with Distress inks. For a pumpkin which I drew myself I used also Distress markers to achieve darker shading. At the end I used Nuvo Crystal glaze on the ladybug and a peace of natural corrugated paper - stained with Distress inks and sprayed with water - as my ground (it is not much visible, but it really fits there) :0)

This page is also my entry to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge

And it is for today. I hope I will be back soon with another page. Thank you for your visit and if you would like to come again, see you next time :0)

Birthday box card two :0)

Second of two birthday box cards I made this year. I used what I learned during a creation of the first card in May, but still a lot of new things and techniques to learn....made with love and fun :0) Last photo was taken in the sunlight and shows a Wink of Stella shimmer shine on the water lilies and moon. Unfortunately other pictures did not take this nice detail at all...

First of two birthday box cards I made this year. It was quite an adventure again. As usually when I create something for the first time...a lot of fun and a lot of to learn :0)

Birthday card

Ha, ha, it really seems, that these days I do only the birthday cards.... so unusual to me :0) Anyway, here is another one which gave me a lot of fun during its creation :0)

I used the Tim Holtz Distress oxide inks on the coloured cardstock as a background - mix of different greens with water droplets technique :0). I coloured all the images with Zig Clean Color real brush markers from Kuretake and I used clouds stencil with white Picket fence Distress ink pad for the inside background.

And the most important on this card? The pure happiness which it brought to the recipient :0))

Creative week 15 - " Time keepers" - with DIY resist spray background

Hi and thank you again for your visit :0). I finally finished another art journal page from my Seawhite hardbound 7.5"x7.5" (ca. 20x20 cm) journal. I played with a small 4"x6" stamp set full of cute little (too little for me) robots and here is the final page with my Time keepers :0)

I have a bunch of these small stamp sets, the stamps are mostly very cute characters, but also very small, great for card making, but unfortunately not so great for art journaling or scrapbooking. Therefore I had a bit hard time to find out how to create a scene with this robotic set, although I like it a lot. Maybe it could help to stamp them, scan them into a computer, re-size them and print again....hmm, that could be an option...
In any case I'm trying to find my way to use all my small stamps, not just to have them in my stash and admire them :0)

But for sure I wanted to use this background I made with my DIY resist spray. I saw the Creativation demos with Tim Holtz new Resist spray a month ago and I really love this idea, but I was a bit impatient to try it, although the spray was not in the stores yet. So I started to think about a DIY version. Do you remember Ranger's Glue n'seal - multipurpose glue and sealer which Wendy Vecchi love so much? I still had a two in my stash - matt and glossy. But they were a few years old and a partially dried out and were not useful as a brushable glue anymore. But I did not throw them away yet. So now I used one of them and mixed it with enough water (I used distilled one, but I think is not actually necessary) to create a liquid usable in a Ranger bigger mister bottle. It really looks similar to the Tim's spray, milky white, creating a super tiny and fine mist as you can see on the letters of my background. And it works as a great colour resist, although the sprayed layer can also keep a lighter version of the colour which you will apply on the top, if you will not wipe away throughly with a damp cloth. Here I used it in a combination with blue Distress ink pads.

This background is actually multi-layered. First I created a background with light blue Distress inks, blending tool and TH Argyle stencil. Than I took a Claritystamp  alphabet stencil and sprayed the DIY resist spray through it and dried it with my heat tool. After that I applied another layer of Distress inks - a bit darker than the first one, so the sprayed letters appeared.
Next I took another Claritystamp stencil with gears and sprayed through it again with the DIY resist spray and dried it again and used a much much darker blue Distress inks over it. I revealed the final pattern - the combination of the two sprayed stencils and and also the first layer with he Argyle stencil is still a bit visible in the alphabet letters.
And - of course - I immediately washed my stencils after I sprayed through them, so there is no glue residue on them.

My DIY spray is probably a bit too thin - I mixed more water in it than I should (1 part of the glue and 3 parts of water should be good enough to prevent the clogging of the spray bottle), but it still sprays beautifully fine mist, although it does not leave the raised texture on the paper as Tim's one does. But I should probably leave my bottle opened over night, so the part of the water could evaporate and it should make the consistency of the spray a bit thicker.

BTW now I also received the Tim's original Resist spray, so I will have a comparison soon :0).

OK, that was a background. My robots and signs I coloured with alcohol markers and silver paint pen and some highlights with a white gel pen. The "paths" are made from white Prima wire coloured with silver paint pen too. Few shadows with a black marker and that's all :0)

Thank you for stopping by - I apologize for such a looong article, have many nice creative days and see you next time :0)

Birthday card

I don't do much birthday cards, so this is one of the exceptions, but I really enjoyed this work for a very nice little lady and I'm really glad that she like it :0). I used for the first time Tim Holtz Distress oxide inks on my serious project - in this case it was Peacock feathers and a little bit of Spiced marmalade, and I admit, that I love, how this inks work on white and - surprise, surprise - also on coloured cardstock, especially when the water droplets technique is used :0). I coloured my images - also for the first time - with Zig Clean Color real brush markers from Kuretake and I'm happy with the intensity of the colours and effect I was able to achieved with them. I can only recommend them, as well as Distress oxides :0). All the used stamps are from Katzelkraft and Hero arts.

So here is the card, really colourful, but lovely, I think :0))

Creative week 14 - "Moon fish"

Hi and thank you for your visit :0). Today I have another small art journal page from my Seawhite hardbound 7.5"x7.5" (ca. 20x20 cm) journal.

I used just two Distress ink pad colours (Picked raspberry and Mermaid lagoon) and some TH layering stencils for the background - these two colours blend into a nice violet colour. Fish and coral stamps are from Design by Ryn, pearls from Sheena Douglass. I'm very happy with the moon and it's texture created with a small sponge dauber and white gesso.

And that's it for today, a lot of fun, although it was a bit challenge to stick only with 2 colours and black and white...

Have a nice day and see you next time :0)

2017 Christmas gifts - part 2

This year I created one more DIY gift, this time for my husband and again I used the materials I've never used before - wood and wire :0) I hope, that this little Robot will make him a company in his work and bring him a smile whenever he will look at him (although he is just 14 cm / 5,5 inch tall) :0)

2017 Christmas gifts - part 1

Same as last year I wanted to make some DIY friendly gifts for this Christmas :0) For the first time I tried to create something from felt and I must say, these gifts were a big success :0D

So let me introduce them....Christmas Gnomes (I love the sound of their jingle bells) :0)

2017 Christmas cards

I would say, that the theme for the Christmas cards 2017 was "calm and peace" :0). I decided to create inner part of each card as a small gift for the recipients - a snowglobe Christmas tree decoration and I hope, that they brought a piece of joy into those festive days :0).

Cards are a mix of coloured and embossed patterns and I really like how they look. I created five different patterns for the fronts of the cards, the snowglobe motif is then identical for all of them. Stamped patterns are coloured with Tombow and Marvy Brush markers, for the decoration on the envelope I used Hero Arts Unicorn white pigment ink :0)

So here they are...enjoy them with me and have a great, joyful and peaceful year 2018 :0)
